Born on June 5, 1997, Samuel Richard Darnold's football journey began in Capistrano Beach, California.

Darnold attended San Clemente High School, where he excelled as a quarterback, leading his team to back-to-back CIF Southern Section Division I championships.

College Career at USC (2015-2017)

Freshman Year: A Promising Start

Darnold made an immediate impact at USC, becoming the sixth redshirt freshman to start at quarterback.

In his debut against Alabama, he completed 18-of-26 passes, showcasing his talent and potential.

Sophomore Year: A Record-Setting Season

Darnold emerged as one of the nation's top quarterbacks in 2016, leading USC to a Rose Bowl victory.

He set several school records, including most passing yards (4,088), most touchdown passes (31), and highest passer rating (164.1).

Junior Year: Deciding to Enter the NFL Draft

After a strong junior season, Darnold decided to forego his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

He was considered one of the top prospects, thanks to his arm strength, athleticism, and decision-making abilities.

NFL Career (2018-Present)

New York Jets (2018-2021)

Darnold was drafted third overall by the New York Jets in 2018.

Despite showing flashes of talent, he struggled with consistency, leading to a 13-25 record as a starter with the Jets.

Carolina Panthers (2021-2022)

Darnold was traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2021.

He started 11 games for the Panthers, throwing for 2,527 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

Minnesota Vikings (2023-Present)

In 2023, Darnold signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

He will compete for the starting quarterback job and looks to prove his worth in the NFL.
